The Wells Johnson vacuum cleaner is a high-power suction system with two oil-free piston vacuum pumps. The system is designed to pull a vacuum in any closed container or any open process system. The vacuum is made by mounting the vacuum pumps in parallel.

When the Wells Johnson vacuum cleaner is connected, the air flow will be from the tip of the cannula through the pipe, collection system, overflow trap, bacterial filter and finally to the pumps to evacuate the air from the lines, creating a vacuum vacuuming the material sucked in in the same direction as the air flow. The aspirated material continues to the collection system under normal suction until the cannula is exposed again to the air.
